PRSS Software Upgrade For All IDC SFX 4104 Pro Audio Receivers

The PRSS has developed and tested a software patch for all interconnected stations’ IDC SFX 4104 Pro Audio receivers. This upgrade updates several important parts of the original IDC Livewire implementation and also helps clean up any XML files that persist after the intended expiration date.

** All stations are required to implement this patch – even if you are not currently an Axia Livewire user, it is still important for you to install this upgrade. **

The PRSS will make the patch available at an FTP server for approximately one month for stations to download at their leisure. This is an important point because the receiver will reboot itself (once and perhaps twice) once the upgrade is implemented, so stations should perform the download at a time that is convenient so that the reboot does not interfere with any broadcast operations.

On or around Sunday, April 27, the PRSS will issue a force command for all receivers that have not yet implemented the patch to do so – a process that will result in the receiver rebooting itself.

** We strongly urge stations to use this window to download the patch so that they can do it at a time that is convenient and unobtrusive. **

To obtain the upgrade file, please visit the following FTP site: ftp.datacast.com

The Upgrade File is named : /LivewireUpgrade/FC5_SMP_upgrade_lw_1.2-1.3_la_1.9-1.10_xd_1.13-1.14_disableCoCl_sshFix_RevB.idc

(If you do not have an FTP client, there is a thin client version at the following address:  https://ftp.datacast.com/thinclient/login.aspx )

Please note: You must download the upgrade file to a computer that your 4104 receivers can “see”, i.e. attached to your station network.

Once you have downloaded the files to a computer that is connected to your receivers, please follow these instructions:

  1. Open the receiver GUI, click Upgrade
  2. When told to locate the upgrade file, click Browse, navigate to wherever you’ve downloaded and placed the file, double click on the file
  3. Click Send Upgrade and wait for the unit to reboot (the receiver may reboot itself several times)

    Additional step for Axia stations:

  4. Navigate via the 4104 GUI to the Configuration/Livewire Configuration tab to reprogram the GPIO parameters as needed. All  GPIO configuration is now performed via the GUI, the original method of using command line editing via Telnet is no longer valid.

Again, please note that the receiver will reboot once or twice during the process.

We regret any inconvenience this poses to your broadcast operations. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the PRSS Help Desk by telephone at 800.971.7677, or via email: prsshelp@npr.org.
