To our valued stations and producers:
Businesses across America are taking steps to help control the spread of COVID-19. Today, I want to make you aware of what NPR Distribution is doing in response to this disease, to protect our employees while maintaining the operation of the Public Radio Satellite System® (PRSS) for you.
The PRSS will continue operations uninterrupted. It’s our mandate to serve you so you can serve your communities, who need you more than ever.
ContentDepot® continues to be available and will operate normally. The Network Operations Center (NOC) in Washington, D.C., is staffed. The Help Desk continues to be available around the clock. All our employees are carrying out their duties, answering calls and emails, and continuing to serve you. This includes our NOC technicians and engineers who are dedicated to ensuring that the distribution system is available to content producers and local public radio stations 24/7. The goal – as always – is seamless service to you and your teams.
However, to reduce potential exposures to the disease, NPR is encouraging telework for employees who are in non-essential on-site roles. As a result, much of the Distribution staff will be working remotely today through the end of March. This is a decision that was made late yesterday as a result of fast-moving events.
What this means is that while some NPR Distribution staff will be working remotely, others will continue to be on site at the Network Operations Center in Washington, DC, operating the PRSS, serving you and responding to your needs. Also, staff will not be traveling for business, events or appearances, whether that requires travel or not.
We recognize that this is a fluid situation across the country. We pledge to keep you informed. We are committed to providing you uninterrupted service.
Thank you – and your teams – for working with us, keeping us up-to-date on your needs. If you have any questions or concerns regarding PRSS operations, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of our staff. I can be reached at email@example.com or (202) 513-2605.
